Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ 15)
The most common questions when creating and sharing wedding calendar links.
- Q1. Does clicking the button automatically add the event to the guest's calendar?
- Yes. Google, Naver, and Outlook buttons open a pre-filled event creation form — the guest just clicks 'Save.' Apple Calendar opens a .ics file that prompts 'Save' or 'Add to Calendar.'
- Q2. I clicked the link in KakaoTalk and only the Google login page appeared.
- KakaoTalk's in-app browser runs in an isolated session separate from Chrome, so Google login may not carry over. Advise guests to tap the three-dot menu and 'Open in Chrome/Safari,' or provide the .ics download button as an alternative.
- Q3. Do I really need to generate links for all 4 platforms?
- Yes — you can't predict what device your guests use. In Korea, roughly 70% use Android + Google Calendar, 25% use iPhone, and 10–20% use Naver Calendar. A 4-button + .ics combo provides the safest MECE coverage.
- Q4. What happens if I leave the end time blank?
- It defaults to start time + 2 hours — a reasonable estimate covering the ceremony (30 min), post-ceremony photos/pe-baek (30 min), and dining (1 hour).
- Q5. How many reminder alerts will guests receive?
- The default is 2 alerts: 1 day before and 1 hour before (VALARM DISPLAY, TRIGGER -PT1440M / -PT60M). Guests can add more alerts in their own calendar app.
- Q6. Will the time display correctly for international guests?
- Yes. The .ics file explicitly states TZID=Asia/Seoul, so the event automatically converts to local time for guests in the US, Europe, Australia, or anywhere else. Google Calendar links also include ctz=Asia/Seoul for the same behavior.
- Q7. If I enter the venue address, does it link to a map?
- Google Calendar automatically links the location field to Google Maps; Apple Calendar links to Apple Maps. Naver shows the text only. Use the full street address for the most accurate map matching.
- Q8. Does it work for February 29 (leap day) weddings?
- Yes, it works correctly. Since this is a one-time event (no RRULE recurrence), all 4 platforms save a February 29 date as-is.
- Q9. How do I edit the links/ICS after generating them?
- This tool doesn't store data server-side, so there is no 'edit' — just re-generate. Change any value in the form and the links and .ics update immediately. Links already shared cannot be recalled, so confirm everything before distributing.
- Q10. Can I embed the links in a mobile invitation (Happymerry, Alimjang, Kakao)?
- Most mobile invitation platforms support 'custom HTML' or 'external link' blocks. Copy the 4 links and replace the URL placeholders in the HTML snippet from the Guide page.
- Q11. Which platform does the QR code point to?
- It encodes the Google Calendar link — the most universally recognized. Both Android and iOS cameras open it immediately. For Apple-heavy guest lists, you can generate an additional .ics download QR separately.
- Q12. The URL is very long. Can I shorten it?
- Use a URL shortener like Naver me2.do or Bitly (free plan). A shorter URL also generates a smaller, cleaner QR code.
- Q13. Is the information I enter stored on a server?
- No. All link, ICS, and QR generation happens entirely in browser-side JavaScript. Open the browser's Network tab and you'll see no external API calls. Closing the page clears all data.
- Q14. Can I use this for a first birthday party, 60th birthday, or company workshop?
- Technically yes — the ICS spec is the same. However, this tool is optimized for wedding scenarios (title and description templates). Dedicated tools for other events may be added to bal.pe.kr later.
- Q15. Does it work with Outlook (Office 365 / corporate Exchange)?
- Outlook.com / Live Mail / Hotmail accounts work directly. For Office 365 Business or Exchange accounts, the .ics file download is the safest option.
